Publisher Casey Lessard is an award winning photographer (OCNA’s second best photographer 2007, 2008 and 2010) and journalist (CCNA’s 2008 winner for Outstanding Reporter Initiative) who believes that community newspapers are strongest when they give everyone a chance to have a public voice.
Angela Michielsen
Co-owner, associate editor
Angela Michielsen studied at the University of Western Ontario and University of Oxford and is especially interested in social justice and feminist issues.
Rita Lessard (1941–2024)

Rita Lessard is the publisher’s mother, and her column presents funny moments and thoughts to which we can all relate. Rita and Tom live in Crediton.
Tom Lessard (1937–2023)
Keeping the Peace
Tom Lessard is the publisher’s father, and his column recalls his time as a member of the Royal Canadian Regiment based in London, Ontario and his years as a United Nations peacekeeper in Germany, Cyprus and Egypt. Tom is an ardent Montreal Canadiens fan.
Joan McCullough (1937–2020)
Chief distribution officer
Joan McCullough is the publisher’s aunt, and she is a former Ministry of Transportation driving test evaluator. Who else would we trust to deliver the paper?
